Extraordinary Tales e o antologie animata, ce reuneste 5 dintre cele mai cunoscute povestiri ale lui Edgar Allan Poe: The Fall of the House of Usher, The Tell-Tale Heart, The Facts in the Case of M. Valdemar, Narrator: The Pit and the Pendulum si The Masque of the Red Death.

Pana aici nimic nou si departe de ai extraordinar. Interesant e insa ca fiecare animatie e desenata in alt stil iar naratorii sunt legende precum Bela Lugosi (inregistrare dintr-o emisiune radiofonica din 1947), Christopher Lee, Julian Sands, Roger Corman si Guillermo del Toro.

Filmuletele sunt legate intre ele prin niste discutii dintre POE/Corb( Stephen Hughes) si buna lui prietena, Moartea (Cornelia Funke), discutii ce au loc, evident, in  cimitir. Din punct de vedere stilistic cele mai reusite sunt primele doua –  The Fall of The House Usher si The Tell-Tale Heart iar cea mai slaba este The Pit and the Pendulum care seamana cu un joc pe calculator.
